Day 11 – Magic Kingdom

We start the day by buying Genie+. Unfortunately because of the way our tickets work, Katie has to do this so she sets an alarm and logs in. She gets Jungle Cruise for 11am.

We had planned on getting to the park for early entry but we are a bit slow and by the time we get to the bus stop it’s 8:30 already. We get into the park just before 9 so we missed any advantage to EE and the crowds are massing to run to Fantasyland so we ignore that chaos and go to the Storybook Circus and ride Dumbo. This area is very quiet so we have no queue for Dumbo a

Then we walk straight onto Goofys Barnstormer. This is much slower than I remember. But I haven’t ridden it for many years.

In our bid to avoid queues and just have fun we look to see what’s got a short line and it’s the Little Mermaid. We have managed to walk onto this a few times but I did notice it had a long line in the afternoon. So it’s worth doing in the morning.

We were feeling pretty pleased with our morning so we stopped for some waffles. I really wanted the egg & cheese breakfast waffle but it looks like they have been discontinued as all the options were fruit or Nutella.

We shared two waffles.

After our break it was time for our first Lightning Lane which was Jungle cruise. The lines for this have been crazy every time we’ve been to MK. It’s a fun ride but it’s not worth over an hours wait!

We immediately get a LL for Small World. Based on the what’s soonest and nearby principle. We stop off at the Tangled Toilets and once again wonder why the prettiest themed area in the park is a toilet block!

We are straight into It’s a Small World and Molly is delighted because her name appears on the goodbye sign for the first time. Katie is in charge of Lighting Lane booking and she books us straight into Tea Cups.

We aren’t opting for big hitters but we are literally walking from one LL to the next.

I’m not a huge fan of teacups so Phil and I decide to get our own cup and then not spin it.

We spin it very slowly and actually we have a good laugh and I didn’t feel sick. So that’s a win win!

We head back to Mickeys Philharmagic. We waited ages for this earlier in the week but I don’t think LL really saved us any time today. But still it’s great to be allowed in first.

On our way back to Buzz we are Pooh Bear has no line. Molly has been wanting to go through the standby line as they have interactive screens and things to play on. Unfortunately the line is so short she just gets a quick chance to play with the sceeens as we don’t have to wait.

We go over to Buzz and our first queue of the morning. This was LL again but there was a short queue. the standby line was 70 minutes though so we can handle a 5 minute wait.

We all did really well strangely! Molly got over 400,000 and I was on 98,000 which is unheard of for me.

We came out of Buzz and decided to do a Mobile Order for Pinocchios.

We walked over there to collect and it was chaos. To be honest if I hadn’t mobile ordered I would have left but we’d paid for our meal. The line to collect meals just didn’t move and there were lots of people waiting to get their food. Eventually we were sent over to another roll and we got our food which appeared to have been ready waiting for us for a little while.

Tables were also in short supply but we did manage to find one and the food was very good. I could just do without the stress before we eat.

We grabbed a LL for Big Thunder for 3pm and thought we would go over to Tom Sawyers Island for a while, while we waited.

This is one of those things we always walk past but never do. There was no queue for the ferry and we went over and had an explore in the mine and then found the cafe (which was closed) but had a nice seating area with a breeze. The girls went to explore whole Phil and I sat. There were a few older people say having a chat while there family were doing the rides. I thought it was a very good place to just sit and relax out of the craziness of the parks. It felt pretty civilised.

We got the ferry back across and we were able to book another LL but there wasn’t really much offered that we wanted to do. So we decided to go get some ice creams on Main Street. Instead we ended up in Starbucks where we got some frozen drinks and sat in the quiet side street. It was nearly parade time but they announced it was delayed due to the weather. It has certainly cooled down and there was a breeze but it wasn’t raining.

After we finished our drinks we decided to leave the park. We could have ridden Big Thunder but I don’t think any of us fancied walking right back over there.

We got the bus back to the room and Phil and Katie fell fast asleep. It has been a tiring day.

Eventually we all got ourselves up and ready and we went to Disney Springs for dinner.

We had a table booked at Chef Art Smiths Homecoming. This is a fried chicken restaurant. While we waited for our table we could see the food coming out looked really good but the portions were huge.

Molly fancied some mac and cheese and chicken so we decided to share a chicken meal and get a side of Mac and cheese. This worked really well as there was plenty of chicken.

The chicken was good but the Mac and cheese was amazing.

Phil has a chicken salad and Katie has a chicken burger. Everything was really tasty.

After dinner we had a wander through the shops. We went over to the far side of Disney springs nearer the cinema and found some shops we hadn’t seen before. There was a nice Disney clothing shop. A marvel shop and a Star Wars one

Cute but not purchased.

We also had a look in the Coca Cola shop. I drink a lot of coke but I don’t really want to wear Coke branded products. Which then made me wonder why I am so happy to wear Disney branded products. And I don’t really have an answer for that.

I looked in the Vera Bradley shop which had lots of new Disney designs which we haven’t seen in the parks. They are pricey though so I only usually buy there stuff at the outlet and the Disney designs don’t seem to make it to the outlets.

We headed back to the car and made our way home.
